Cell Phone Policy
Effective June 15.2010, the Western District of New York's policy regarding possession and use of Personal Electronic Devices (PED) in the Courthouse and Court facilities of the District will be as follows:
A General Order signed by Chief Judge William M. Skretny on May 14, 2010 details the limited circumstances under which PED's will be allowed in the Courthouses and Court facilities.
Please note that PED's will not be allowed in the courtroom of District Judge Richard J. Arcara under any circumstances, notwithstanding the General Order.
As stated in the General Order, Court-issued identification Cards will be required for attorneys to bring PED's into the courthouse. Cards will be issued between the hours of 9 AM and 4 PM daily, at the courthouses in Buffalo and Rochester, beginning on June 15, 2010. An application form is listed below.
