THE FEDERAL AND LOCAL RULES OF CIVIL PROCEDURE

Civil litigation in federal court is governed by the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure may be found on the Internet at http://www.law.cornell.edu/rules/frcp/overview.htm. (Just click on this Internet address to have your browser take you to the web site.)

This Court also has its own rules which, together with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, govern how cases are litigated in the Court. The Local State Rules correspond to the Federal Rules, and you will need to be familiar with both the Federal and Local Rules as you proceed pro se with your case.

One way to become familiar with the Rules is to read their tables of contents before you start your case, so you know what things are covered by the Rules. Then read and become familiar with those Rules that apply to your case at each stage of it as it goes along. Click on the link below to explore the Local Rules of Civil Procedure.
